Optional Rules
There are certain rules which apply for this game like how this game has to be played, what steps have to be taken when, how is the betting done, and what kind of betting is done at what stage. The rules at certain places are limited, but at many places there are other things which can be done.
These are called optional rules. It is decided before the game whether these optional rules have to be included in the game or not. The optional rules include chop. When chopping is allowed in a game, if in a round nobody calls the bet, the players who placed the small and big blinds can take their bet back. But at this time, both have to agree in taking the bets back.
Another optional rule is straddling. In this rule, before starting the game, when the small and big blinds are placed, the player to the left of the one who places big blinds has the option of raising the bet before even looking at the cards. This is then considered as the live bet. The player can again raise the bet when his turn arrives whether others have raised the bet or no.
There is one more optional rule i.e. kill pot. In kill pot, a player can place an over blind, i.e. he can place a bet which is double the size of the big blind. This option also increases the betting limit to double size. At some games, the player is allowed to a larger amount, but it should not exceed the half of the total stack. The person who kills will play last in the first round and from the second round the normal game is continued.
All these optional rules make this game more interesting and thus, this game has to be played with lot of concentration and planning. This is not just another poker game. This is a very interesting game involving a lot of surprises.
